The easy option is the flat walk to the Skaftafellsjökull glacier snout; the committed one is the ninety-minute round trip up to Svartifoss, which makes a longer package the natural choice. Edited galleries usually arrive within about a week.

Svartifoss, the slender white fall dropping over a colonnade of dark hexagonal basalt — the formation that inspired Hallgrímskirkja's tower — with Hundafoss and Magnúsarfoss on the trail up; the snout of Skaftafellsjökull, a grey-blue wall of crevassed ice above a meltwater lagoon, a flat forty-minute walk from the visitor centre; and the Sjónarnípa viewpoint, which stacks glacier, black outwash plain and sea in one frame.

Late morning for Svartifoss, when the sun finally reaches into its basalt amphitheatre; late afternoon for the glacier tongue, when low light picks out the blue in the ice. Summer's long days make the hikes relaxed, and around midsummer the light barely fades. In winter the trails are icy and daylight lasts four to five hours, but this is also ice-cave season — the caves are only entered with a licensed guide, never alone.

Skaftafell is part of Vatnajökull National Park, so stay on the marked paths and leave the drone at home — flying needs a permit from the park. Pose in front of the ice, never on it: walking onto a glacier without a licensed guide is genuinely dangerous, and guided glacier walks leave from the visitor-centre area if you want that frame. Skaftafell is about four and a half hours from Reykjavík and under an hour from Jökulsárlón.

Usually, yes — photographers who list studio sessions either own their space or include the rental in the package, and the price you see at booking is the price you pay. The exception is when you request a specific external studio or a large set for a group; then the photographer will tell you about any extra cost before you confirm, never after. When comparing packages, check what else is bundled: number of edited images, retouching level, and whether an outdoor add-on is possible. Icelandic studios vary from daylight lofts to full-flash setups, so look at the portfolio to see which look you're actually buying.

Typically two to three in a one-hour session, more in longer bookings — the studio has a changing area, so the limit is time, not logistics. For headshots, bring two tops in different tones (one light, one dark) and let the photographer choose the background to match.
