Diamond Beach is the second act of Jökulsárlón, two minutes across the bridge: icebergs that escape the lagoon are broken and polished by the Atlantic, then thrown back onto the black sand as clear, glassy fragments — some fist-sized, some taller than the clients. The contrast does the work: transparent ice on coal-black sand, and a couple crouched beside a car-sized diamond needs no direction at all. The ice supply changes daily with tide and storm — some mornings the beach is strewn, some it is bare — so promise the lagoon and treat the diamonds as the bonus; a phone check with anyone on site the evening before saves the disappointment. Light rules: backlit low sun turns the ice to lit glass, so sunrise (east end of the beach) and the last hour are the slots, and in winter the low sun keeps that angle most of the day. The same sneaker-wave rules as Reynisfjara apply — the surf here is violent, clients stay off the wet sand, and nobody ever climbs on ice at the waterline.
