Cómo llegarTwenty to thirty minutes up the rim path, a wooden platform hangs out over the gorge at its head. From here the canyon runs away from you in a series of curves, the walls turning green with distance and the Fjaðrá threading the bottom — the widest view of the place, and the payoff for the climb.
Space on the platform is limited and visitors take turns, so this is a spot for two or three frames rather than a leisurely set: your photographer will have the shot planned before you step on. Early morning or late evening in summer buys time. The railing is a natural place to lean, and a couple facing out with the canyon receding behind them reads better than a posed turn to camera.
The upper section of the path can be muddy and is exposed to wind that funnels along the gorge — worth knowing if a dress or a veil is involved. When the path is closed in spring, this platform is what is closed; the lower viewpoints sometimes stay open, so check the current status rather than assuming either way.
